What’s been happening lately?
The last newsletter came out in February of 2024, so this is a recap of the last year since! It has been another busy year for Indy Pickleball Club (IPC)! Whether you have been with us for a while or if you just joined, here are just some of the great things IPC participated in, offered, and provided for members and pickleball enthusiasts!
We hosted/co-hosted MANY events: Pickle Prom to support Riley Children’s Hospital (March), Eclipse Pickleball with WIRC (April), Cinco de Pickle with WIRC (May), 2nd Indy Sports Corp Corporate Challenge (July), First inaugural “Indy Pickleball Club Club v. Club Team Tournament (Oct.)(more information on that even is below)
League/Fun events: 1st Wednesday of the month at Mashcraft (April - Oct.), 7 week league for members only at the Butler University outdoor courts (May-June), King/Queen of the Court and Ladder play at Butler courts (July), Pickle and Pizza-always free to IPC members! (July, Nov.)
Volunteer and Support Work: Pride parade (Indy and Carmel), Special Olympics Pickleball with Washington Township S.O., PickleCon panels (Kansas City), Community Support - Chris De Monclin (Cyntheanne Park), communications with many people about lessons, clinics, and play at a variety of sites
Other! We were on Fox 59 with “Where’s Sherman” and the Indianapolis Pickleball Club, we were on the “Sweet Lobs” podcast in July (Episode 14 about Pickleball Addiction), we provided detailed help to several groups wanting to host pickleball tournaments as fundraisers, and answered many emails about where, how, and with whom to play, as well as where/how to learn.

One of the aspects of our Mission Statement is to unite individuals in the Greater Indianapolis region through Pickleball. And that's exactly what we've done!
We created a Team Tournament (2 men, 2 women per team) and hosted it at the Indianapolis Pickleball Club where we had 8 courts to use. Keeping it in the “Greater Indianapolis” area, 8 teams were included (Farmer’s Bank Fieldhouse, Go West, Indianapolis Pickleball Club, IRC East, LifeTime, PickleBrawlers, Team Cage and The Dink House). It was played over the Oct. 19/20 weekend and each of the 4 DUPR levels (14, 16, 18 and 20) were awarded a cash first prize!
The overall winners were Team Cage, who was awarded the coveted Travelling Team Trophy! It was SO FUN to see so many people get together and cheer for their “home” group, though we saw many people with many “home” groups!

What’s coming up in 2025?
A lot! First, we will have a change of command! After 2 ½ years as President, Lisa Farley is stepping down, but will remain as “Past President” with the Board. A new President will be named Nov. 2, as will a new Treasurer! Mike Hay has provided many years as the treasurer and though no longer in town, Mike has continued to support the club. With the new treasurer also named Nov. 2, Mike will be retained by the club to help with the transition.
The talk of the community is about all the new Pickleball places opening! What does this mean? It simply means so many more opportunities to engage in fun programming! While people will move around, Indy Pickleball Club will continue to support ALL pickleball places in the area! Expect to continue to see us in a variety of places all over town!
Tournaments: Currently IPC is planning several events, though more opportunities always seem to pop up! As always, check the website and Indy Pickleball Club Facebook for more details.
Other Stuff: With the rapid growth of Pickleball, there is ALWAYS something on the horizon, and often it comes so fast we just move to jump on it when we can!
How can YOU find out what is happening throughout the year? There are a few ways: check out the website, be sure to check your email, get on the Team Reach app for Indy Pickleball Club members, and be part of the Indy Pickleball CLUB and Indy Pickleball GROUP facebook pages!
